Ported Throttle Bodies on E-bay

Good deal or bad deal guys?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The price makes me feel it might be a good performance add on at about 1/4 the price of a new one. Thoughts?

Seem kinda of high! There's places that will bore yours out for about, $50-60. Go to a junk yard, get and old one. And send it to have bored to 62mm..

Or go to the JY and get you one or two for like $20-30 and bore them out yourself... That is going to be my plan... get two that way if I mess one up I got the other one to do correctly, and still have my stock one on my Jeep that I can bore and sell after I complete the other one.... along with my 99+ Intake manifold upgrade...

i've been looking at what's out there...there are a few on ebay and prices hover around ~$100 + core....63mm is the max bore on that TB and your intake manifold is at 62/63mm, beyond which it could affect the structure....

you could do it yourself if you have the tools and know how...you'd have to replace the shaft and plate as well!

this is my guy for boring.... http://www.thefastman.com/Throttlebodies40.asp ....i've been running his 62mm for over 5yrs now...very quality work and parts....tell him Kaya in Texas sent you for a good deal.

...also, if yours is pre-98 (?), or not a 2001....then, look for 2001-2007 intake manifolds from wrangler/cherokee/grand cherokee (same 4.0L engine across all)....much better flow design!

....while at it grab some of these injectors too.... they are plug and play.... http://www.fuelinjector.citymaker.co...25/4735791.htm ...or 19# ford taurus injectors - they have quad-ports for better atomization.

i always hear about people boring them at home but are htey replacing hte throttle plate and everything? if not, then you are not actually boring the whole thing and still have the original size at the plate area so its kind of pointless to do. in order to properly bore, you need a larger throttle plate.

maybe you can also polish the throat after doing whatever work to the throttle body. i know on the old 4 barrel carbs on chevies, the quadrajets, if you smoothed the throat, you could gain about 300 cfm because of how much smoother the air flows. lots of people have done that.

I got mine bored to 64mm from http://www.strokedjeep.com/tbody.html and have absolutely no problems with it. Cost was around $90 with gasket to match...Tj
