Well check for spark, fuel and air. Also, if you can, you may want to do a compression test and make sure that you have good compression in all cylinders. If you don't, you may have a bad head/head gasket/intake/intake gasket. You may also want to check for clogged injectors, or see if the firing order is correct. If you have a crossed wire, it will do this. Another thing to check is to see if your catalytic converter is plugged...I'm not sure how to test for that. just some ideas for you. Keep us updated.

Ok, this is going to be a long thread. But it may be the fix to your problem. I'll tell you what happen to me, i would be driving and would come to a stop, then take off and as i would do that my jeep would bog out (loose power) and would begin a loud popping sound out of the throttle body. It would do that, then i would restart it and it would drive normal again. It did this for some time. It finally crapped out on me on a road trip. After weeks of searching and testing, i found that the rotor was melted. I put a new one in it and it lasted another month before doing it again. So after more weeks of no jeep and testing, i decided to pull the distributor and check for who knows what. When i pulled it, i found that the helical gear was chewed up.(destroyed) so i put another distributor in it. After another month or two, it started doing it again. I pulled out the dist. And found it was also chewed up. After more testing and searching, i realized that it was getting chewed up because the timing chain had to much slack, from not being changed. (170,000miles)not allowing the cam to spin at the correct moment. So i put a new set of gears and chain in. It still did the popping and dieing thing, but would stay running, but wouldn't go past 1000 rpm. I pulled the 3rd dist. And found it was chewed up again. We came to the conclusion that the distributor gear on the cam was chewed up from the combination of the slack in the chain and the chewing up of the helical gears. I put a new cam in it, and it doesn't do it almost at all. It does the popping thing about once every two months, for like a secound. Its wierd too, my wife's 96 xj does it to, the popping and bogging out thing . If you have any questions, let me know, i'll help you figure it out. Don't give up on the jeep.....their worth the time

When mine did it, I tried everything you have tried to find out that the rubber hose on the fuel pump was rotted. I would check that before I bought any thing else, just loosen the lock ring on the pump and pull it out. With about a 1/4 - 1/2 tank of fuel.

There is a rubber hose on the pump it self, When you pull it out you will see where the hose goes. It is held on by clamps, I am just saying that it might be this cause mine did it too. And I think someone else's rotted the same way. Either well with your lift it should not take long to pull the pump out
