Poison Spyder Bumper... ON an XJ?

I have always like poison spyder customs bumpers and parts made for the wranglers. So I decided to pick one up and put it on my xj.

It turned into more of a project then I was expecting... but I think its going to turn out nice! The bumper is made for the tj. The bumper mounts Directly to the tj frame. With the uni****body on the xj... this is where it gets interesting.

Pictures to come.

No interests... tough crowd. Pictures!

I cut the end of my uni-body off. And added some 2x4" rectangular tubing that I welded to my JCR off-road frame stiffeners. They are bolted on right now but I plan on welding them soon. I still need to gusset the new bumper mounts/cross-member and I need to add ends under the grill stretching out to each body end.

Here are some pictures of my cross-member and the bumper mounted. It only took about 5 hours. But I was by myself.

Like the bumper but looks a little low. Not trying to be critical just an observasion.

ya i love the poison spyder logo i wouldnt miss it. lol. dude the bumper looks SWEET. the only think "I" would do is put something to 45 it up. just so its flush. im not a big fan of things that stick out and have hard corners but thats just me. i think it looks SICK but thats what i would do just to make it look "cleaner"

I bought the PS bumper brand new for $200 bucks and then built the mount myself out of rectangular tubing. The frame mounts are made from JCR offroad. Along with the steering mount where it mounts on the inner uni-body. JCR makes some good S. The bumper is made for a tj.

NO problem here... I'll take all the observasions possible. I think it may be a touch low. The way the bumper is bult that is the highest I could mount it without having a winch installed on it. If I would have had a winch to test fit everything it would have made life easyer. I plan to cut into my grill and mount it farther back... but that wont happen until I can get a winch on there! SO I'm going to stick with it and see if it drags or is even an issue. Thanks!

Thats what I'm going to do. I want to add the rectanglar tubing to each corner and taper them up. Then maybe add some round tubing from the lower mount by the bumper and tie it in to each tapered corner. That would allow some nice recovery points. Probably for now I will add the tapered rectanglar tubing.

Then I will build a simple plain jane rear bumper. I also am cuting and welding on my rear abortion of a factory bar pin setup to install my new fox shocks.

Pictures and a new thread to come with that.
