Point me in a direction

Symptoms: 98 XJ stalls randomly. Does not sputter, just shuts down. Sitting at idle or driving down the road.

Did some homework here and followed some advice in a previous thread here https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/gremlins-186002/
Cleaned TB
Changed AIC (IAC?)
Rented a fuel pressure test gauge as I was having to "poor mans prime" to start. Was getting pressure leak down with key off.
Ordered a Carter Fuel Pump Module from Rockauto and installed.
XJ coughed a bit and stalled a few times after install but smoothed out and ran around the neighborhood well. Yesterday morning ( the morning after the install) she wouldn't start again.
I hear the pump prime, Know there is fuel in the tank, ohm'd out the relay and fuse. Now she won't start at all, "sounds" like there's no fire. Haven't been home early enough to get out in the driveway and troubleshoot further as I go to work at 445 am and have been getting home about 7 or 8 pm. Battery has been drained several times this year due to stupidity/neglect but always takes a charge.
Please give me a direction to start looking for the "real " issue and how to test out the theory.

Thanks in advance
Bill

Take your battery in and have it load tested. A bad charging system can play hell on our Jeeps and can cause all kinds of strange problem. If the battery checks out fine and it keeps draining over night you may have a Parasitic draw. Check out the attached link on how to test it.
Also you said that you checked the fuel pressure. What did the pressure read. For your 98 you should have 49psi + or - 5psi.
hen it shuts down while driving does it sputter or anything or does it shut off like you turned the key off? If it's like you turned it off you may want to check out your ignition coil, CPS and the ignition switch.

pressure test with old pump was vibrating between 46-48 psi. have not re rented the tester to check the new pump

Make sure that you have a strong BLUE spark. You can also check out the coil and you CPS. Also you might want to clean all of the grounding points which includes the battery terminals, battery to fender, oil dipstick, rear of the head to the fire wall. at the coil and the mounting point between the starter and the engine block. Clean them with a wire brush or sand paper. Make sure that the are nice and shinny.

CPS was the culprit. Thanks for all you advice tracking this down.

Was about to say...the CPS is high on the list. At some point in time, the CPS will start to play up in our 4.0's...
Hope you replaced it with a quality one.
