Default Please help me with my New XJ

Ok so this is my first jeep cherokee i bought it super cheap the guy could not get it to start so i figured i would try it out i have worked on cars my whole life and have never had a problem before anyways let me tell you guys what it is doing and maybe some one has had this problem or can help me

ok it cranks over but wont start there is no spark at all so i will tell you what i have replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, crank position sensor, coil, ignition module and my buddy has the same year jeep as me so i tried to switch the computer from his running jeep to mine and it still would not work some one please help me if you can

this sounds stupid but i was checking out the internet about people not getting spark and some guy replaced most the stuff i did on his jeep and his would still not start so he took it to a mechanic and the mechanic said it was the oxygen sensor but as far as i know with everyother car in the world even if the O2 sensor is bad it will still start so i think this guy is full of crap

It would help if we knew a bit more about the xj itself. What year?
Check battery terminals. Mine looked fine, but I couldn't get mine to start up, so just cleaned up a bit and it runs fine now.

You might try this:
Find the CPS sensor plug at the back of the manifold. Disconnect it and re-connect it a few times. Apparently it can be a weak spot.
It worked for me today.
Can't hurt to try...it takes 2 minutes and doesn't cost anything.
Good luck!

YO Blue, is there a relay on the ignition?? If there is a relay on the ignition, it could be that. IDK know if there is or not. PM Blue, if he doesn't chime in shortly.

did you use a voltmeter or test light to make sure you are getting power at least to the coil?

Back to CPS, lots of problems with these, and often just the conn. is dirty. Blue XJ has lots of answers about renix engines

If the CPS is good then that leaves two areas to check. First and free is the engine grounds. They are very important to the Renix system.
Second gets a little involved inside the dizzy. Follow this link, it tells you the test to check the cam position sensor. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...lse_Stator.htm

If your buddy will let you, then swap dizzys with his running Renix. I am assuming his is a Renix as well. Don't swap with a OBDI or OBDII dizzy they won't work in your Jeep.

Let me know via PM if that helped.

If the cam position sensor (in the dizzy) is bad it is like having no points in a points type dizzy.
