my xj is drawing power from the battery from some source the battery and alternator are new and work. everything is turned off yet the battery will die just sitting there. does anyone know about this happening????????

something is still on. sorry if it's blunt but there is no other exlpanation. maybe a light in the glove box or rear cargo area, maybe under hood light. if you unhook the battery, does the battery still die?

dont be sorry i just miss my baby(xj) lol and no it doesnt i an unhook the negative terminal and it will stay charged

then you have something still staying powered up even though the key is off. cb radio, amp. invertor. something is staying hot.

i have none of those i installed a cd player about a month ago but it hasnt giving me any trouble. do you think it could be a short in a circuit some where or maybe an ignition switch gone bad?

the easyest way to start searching... is with a test light ... or any 12volt light... un hook the neg cable...hook one end of test light to battery the other end to the neg cable.. if you have a draw on system it should light up.. the brighter its lite up the stronger the draw... ok now that you got that done.. .start pulling fuse's one at a time to see if it dims... if you get lucky and it goes out when you pull a fuse.. then you know what circut is shorting out... if its not a critical circut then you can atleast drive it and not have it go dead till you find short...

Ps had dude bring car to me.. had at several shops.. had a short nobody could find.. after months of in and out of difrent shops he stoped by shop i was workin at.. i sat in car.. he told me story.. i said wow well maybe leave it with me.. i looked back in rear cig lighter and ill be damn there was a penny in the hole were the ligher goes.. it would bounce and blow fuse..so nobody found it becuse it wasnt shorting out when they brought to them... I just got lucky... but moral of story.. it can be ANYTHING

but anyway try the test light trick and go from there......

ok thnks but i have atually done that twice alreadyl lol had guy tell me that at advanced, what would you recommend after that?
