play where driveshaft goes inside transfercase
That seal leaks and if i grab the driveshaft i can wiggle it a little bit where it slides into the transfercase....So the output shaft on the transfercase lets the driveshaft have a little bit of play is this normal?

I'm having the same issue now, I have a 242- hack 'n' tap sye and I replaced the seal a week ago. Its leaking again and I have play in the output shaft. I'm assuming it's the bearing but I can't find a write-up anywhere on how to change it????

Up and down or back and forth
Do you mean up and down play,or back and forth play. Up and down (and side to side) play is bad and may mean rebuild of the transfer case. Back and forth is normal and merely means your seal is worn.(I Think)
