Plastic pieces in transmission pan
Although a better title for this should be "How is the rust going to make your life miserable today". While changing the transmission fluid and filter today, the two parts of the filler tube were stuck together. Rust would not allow the O-ring to pull through. After much PB Blaster, twisting, turning and yanking, finally came apart, to reveal this in the bottom of the pan:
So these are parts to the solenoid connector lock. I guess the lesson here is be careful yanking the pan off because those connectors are in a very vulnerable spot. Seemed to be an easy fix though-- squash the female faston a little bit to make it tighter, reverse it on the solenoid so the ears are now visible then solder the connector to the solenoid.
Looking over, I seen the fuel line connector and retaining clip appears to be rust. Like all the parts are gone, it's just rust. If I sneeze at it it will just blow away.
Amazon 52100349AB. Oh well the UPS guy hasn't been here in a couple days. That part already had a splice in it where it had cracked under the bracket on the engine, so now I feel a little more justified in dropping the 50 bucks.
Shoulda got a Florida Kee.

Not to rub salt in your wound, but there is no need to drop the pan on an AW4 to service it. It was designed for drain and fill every 30K miles under normal duty and every 15K under severe duty like postal delivery, lots of towing, or taxi etc.
Unless the pan is leaking, leave it alone.

A604 vs AW4 is a crappy comparison of trannies. The only thing they share in common in any way shape or form is the "A" in their name..............

Got the new 9 speed automatic now. We'll see how that goes.

IMO I think the biggest problem with A604 was the owners. Those transmissions were VERY sensitive to ATF types. I always used Mopar ATF. Those people who used anything else usually had issues.

I was service manager at a Jeep Chrysler dealer when the A604 came out. Now you understand my bias? Lol.

I unbolted the mount for the filter time and dropped that with the pan since the tube would not disconnect for me. That is an option to those in the same situation.

Yep,, let it hang if you can't separate the two tubes that make up the one.. A little Heat usually helps pop them apart.
But if to much of a pain or no heat..let it hang.
