Default Pinion angle with 8.8

Another question regarding my upcoming 8.8 swap. With the kit I have ordered I will need to place the 8.8 axle where it will go, set the pinion angle, and weld it up. No problem, but I was wondering what kind of angle I need, I have a 4.5 lift and will be using a SYE. Did a search, and got confusing results.

It's acctually quite simple. First install your lift kit and SYE before you do your 8.8. Don't install the Drive shaft yet, just the SYE. Next fully remove the old axle supporting the rear end of the jeep on jack stands. Then take the 8.8 and using a floor jack and some friends put it under the jeep with new mounts sitting on the tube loosly. Then slide your mounts along the axle to match up with the springs. To set the pinion angle put the drive shaft back in and turn the pinion of the 8.8 up to have the correct alighment needed. Then tac weld the mounts in place when the correct angle is found. Hopefully this makes since. If it is unclear in an area let me know.

with a SYE kit you will have a CV type DS
so you will need to do what was listed above

plus you will need to connect the DS
now you need to have a magnetic angle finder
set the pinion 1 degree less than the DS

so if you have a DS angle of 8
you want the pinion at 7

you will need to do a Little back and forth cus as you adjust the pinion
the DS angle will change

Define go away

There's two ways. First you can lift up your rear seat and unplug it front the unit for the rear abs. Then cut the lines for it for the rear where they run down to the axle. This will get rid of the rear abs so you can do your axle swap.

Pros: Quick cheap effective.

Cons: Your ABS light will be on, your engine will probably throw a code becuase of it which can cuase it to not pass inspection.

The other way is to remove the abs pump and all lines. Since your going to an 8.8 I assume with disc brakes you'll want to use a ZJ porportioning valve with disc brakes anway way so run your hard lines from the master cylinder to the porportioning valve. From there run new lines to the wheel bypassing the abs pump. You'll also need a non abs XJ porportioning valve so you can get the rear line adapter for it so you can run a line directly to you passanger side.

Pros: Nice clean job. No codes no problems. No more abs front or rear.

Cons: alot of time and money.

Me I went with the cheap fix for now on my jeep with my D44 swap. But in the future I will be doing it the right way so it will be a clean job.

Also for the cheap fix some people also remove the bulb from dash for the abs so the light is not on and will pass visual inspection.
