Pics of Rear Seat With Seat Cover Removed? Mounting to Back of Rear Seat?
In my 2000 XJ 4 door, I would like to remove the fabric seat cover from the back seat (the "vertical" part of the seat where a person's back leans against, not the "horizontal" part of the seat where a person sits down). I am doing this so I can see the structure under the seat cover. I want to see the structure because I want to mount some brackets to the back side of the back seat that will hold snugly up against it a rifle, axe, maybe camp shovel, etc. I may need to add a panel of aluminum (or other strong / light weight) material attached to the seat structure (and under the fabric seat cover) to provide structural support for the mounting brackets.
Question 1: Can you post / link to any pictures of the back of the back seat with the seat cover removed? Question 2: Any ideas on material / brackets / mounts to use for this project? Thanks |
The back of the seat is steel, it's about 1/8in thick or so and is not perfectly flat, there are ridges and stuff, but you can feel where they are through the cover. If what you're mounting isn't too heavy, you can probably get away with self tapping screws.
I don't have any pics of it. I recovered it. |

Horizontal on the roof or vertical on the seat back your choice. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Gun-Storage/Auto-Gun-Storage%7C/pc/104792580/c/104730480/sc/104195880/Big-Sky-Racks-Overhead-Gun-Rack/706661.uts?destination=/catalog/browse/shooting-gun-storage-auto-gun-storage/_/N-1100215/Ns-CATEGORY_SEQ_104195880 |
