PHILIPS H6054 LED headlights
I've been looking around for led h4 replacement headlamps for a little while now, seeing most people hover around the JW speaker 8900 and the trucklites. But then the other day, I stumbled upon these. Has anyone heard of them or have any experience with them?

No experience with this particular light, but I have been following the Phillips brand LEDs a little. I have experimented with various LED bulbs and Philips is the only one i have found so far that pays attention to where the LED element is in the H4s. If the element is not in exactly the same place, the light pattern in the refletor housing gets all messed up. So I am guessing that these are probably pretty good lights

Headlight Revolution briefly reviewed these headlights during their 5x7 headlight shootout. Besides the light color, they get a solid recommendation.

When I saw the price of the Phillips LED's, I had to sit for a spell. DAYUM, for 2 headlights?
So instead I paid more then I ever have for a pair of LED headlights to replace my stock GE 6054's (which cost new about $15 for both of them). I paid app. $86 a pair for my new LED's. They gave me what I wanted which was ability to see the road and the shoulders on both sides. I have been flashed twice in the last month, so I don't think they bother oncoming drivers much. Speaking of bright lights, the new Ford F250 must have stadium lights! Holy crap they are bright! If you ever think they are on bright and flash a F250 oncoming, and he flashes you back the only thing you will see is spots! You have been warned! |
So as a side note. NHSTA forced a recall on 100,000 LED bulbs that exceed the FMVSS 108 standard. They're forcing the company to either issue refunds or provide compliance standard halogen bulbs.

Also keep in mind LEDs don't melt ice on the lenses. Some have heaters built into them for that purpose.

in NY, there is actually a ticket-able offense called "dazzling lights" that can be issued.

I wish somebody would start enforcing it! We have one snowplow guy around here that uses a 4 ft LED light bar as a reverse light, but he leaves it on all the time he is plowing. I couldn't see a freaking thing for almost a full minute!

After some trans work on my 76 Volare I went for a drive and promptly got pulled over. The reverse lights were stuck on. It is a violation to display outward aimed white lights on the rear of the vehicle on the road while moving forward. He made it sound like they can prevent it from being driven in that case such as impounding. Not sure about that, he may have just been Copsplaining, but we talked about the work and I told him I would get out and remove the bulbs immediately for the drive home. He needed me to wait until he finished closing the DR and drove away before I got out for his safety.
Also, I'm absolutely sure that 4 ft LED bars are strictly off road use only. I believe it is even required to have a cover over them any time you drive on the road with them to be extra double super sure they can't blind people. But most people just feel like F Everyone! I want the lights I want. |
Hey Mildphil. I just recently purchased this headlight for my custom motorcycle. The installation went well. No surprises there. The build quality appeared quite good and the light intensity and pattern more than acceptable. I went with this LED light because first off it carried the Philips name and I have always had good success with their products and secondly the price was acceptable. I used the light about 5-6 times without any problems and then just the other day I went to use my bike and neither the low nor high beam would work. I checked voltage at the light plug and all was ok. I pulled the damn thing from my bike and sent it back. I checked reviews on Amazon and a number of reviewers complained about poor longevity and in some cases DOA. For a light that costs over 200 cad dollars I was hoping for a lot more. I was thinking about getting another Philips but don't want to go through this experience again. Not sure what to do now as I'm leary about buying a cheaper light online and at the same time don't want to spend the kind of money that JWSpeaker or Morimoto are asking.

But they would have to be heated ones cause of the not melting snow thing. But at that price, the fact that I don't drive much at night, and am perfectly fine with Wagner BriteLite versions of the stock headlights don't see the sense in it. Most guys do the headlight harness upgrade for the brighter lights and the fact that it takes some of the stress off the factory wiring is a bonus. I did it cause it takes some of the stress off the factory wiring and the brighter lights are just a bonus. LOL. |

I was going to add a lightbar to my Jeep until I got the Truck-lites. They work amazing especially with the high beams on. Will be getting another set for my current Jeep even though they are not cheap. Its worth it.
