so after totaling my RX-8, my dad gave me his 88 cherokee. i now have a free jeep that he bought new, always took care of it, and with only 17,000, yes 17,000 miles on it. so im sitting here with all this insurance money that i plan on putting all into the jeep. i was looking into some 6-8 inch lifts and i found a few that specifically say "does not work with Peugeot transmission". it has a 5 speed manual from what i see is the Peugeot. is there any specific reason these lifts wont work? is it too big to clear the new crossmember. i dont want to go spend a couple grand on a lift just to find out it wont work. any tips on which one to buy or not to buy? any help would be much appreciated. also ill post some pics of the full build

You must be looking at long arm kits. The manuals are shorter than autos and the arms attach to the new crossmember.

With a lift comes wheeling and with wheeling comes damage. Why trash an xj with such low miles? Don't get me wrong I love lifted xj's but why not get a beater and lift that? I'm guessing with 6-8" of lift it isnt going to be a dd so why not get a beater with the insurance money lift it(trail rig) and use the low miles xj as a dd? Just my 2 cents

Which kits are you looking at, Rusty's and Rubicon Express will work with the BA-10 just takes a little mod. RC will not work.

1 i dont have room for 2 vehicles, 2 i dont plan on making it my daily driver, i plan on making it a trail rig

If you read the bottom it says it will work just need to move the tranny mount up a bit. I know several people running this kit and love it. Rusty is a pretty cool guy as well. He donated a ton of stuff for a raffle earlier this year for a fellow wheeler who was in an accident.

Find a 500 dollar xj to build as a trail rig. Sad to see a nice piece of Jeep history to get pounded to crap.
