Default Parts questions. U-joint, Hub assembly, valve cover, oil filter adapter

1. I'm planning on buying Spicer 5-760x U-Joints. Can anyone recommend a place to buy these?

--Only one is bad, but should I replace both?

2. Also, I've got a high pitched whine (dependent on wheel rpm) from the right front wheel area that occurs between 20-50mph and I've confirmed it's not a sticky caliper and is not engine rpm dependent. I'm thinking about replacing the hub assembly (even though it feels great, no play). Your opinion? I'd go with Timkens if I bought any.

--Only one is making the noise, but should I replace both?

3. Is this the correct valve cover gasket to replace my leaky one with? FEL-PRO Part # VS50458R Perma Dry

4. Where do you guys buy your oil filter adapter O-rings from? The dealership?

Thanks for your time,

1. Napa will have it as will most other parts stores.
2. It's always a good plan to replace both at the same time.

As for the rest I am not to sure

For Question 2, I would replace both hubs at the same time. You have to take the hub off to get to the u-joint anyways, right? And if you are replacing both u-joints... If one hub is going, it could be that the other isn't far off. I ordered my Timken's from Rockauto.com

4. Where do you guys buy your oil filter adapter O-rings from? The dealership?

Dealership has them (next day delivery anyway). Kit with three o-rings is Chrysler P/N 4720363 (Oil filter adaptor Seal Pack). Large o-ring is 33002972. I think the kit is under $10. Rock Auto just has the large ring I believe (but that's the one that usually goes). I'm doing mine this weekend if the weather warms up.

Good luck

Northern Drivetrain has the best prices I've found on Spicer u-joints.
Looks like $58.31 a pair. http://www.northerndrivetrain.com/pr...PI-5-760X.html

Wheel hubs, try RockAuto and Amazon.com (yeah, really... they had the best price when I got mine). Good to replace both if you have they money. When one fails the other is probably not far behind.

OFA O-rings, Jeep dealer. My local one is really expensive. Anyone know a dealer that sells this kind of stuff mail order?

Spicer stuff I've got from Six States Driveline, not sure if they're the cheapest, but maybe you have one in your area. They're in a lot of Western states I think.

For our 98's its a safe bet that we have cast rotors.

I'm assuming my front D30 is a 98', I bought it a couple months ago & am buying all my parts to rebuild it. It's a HP D30, the PO thought it came out of a 98. I assume by cast Rotors, you me the "Composite"?

Actually, Napa's u-joint supplier is now Precision and some GKN. 15 Years ago, Napa used all the Dana companies as suppliers (Spicer, Victor gaskets, Dana chassis) but the Dana companies wouldn't discuss pricing adjustments to keep Napa competitive. When I first started at Napa in 1986, I could get any Dana/Spicer driveline part(Ring gears, spindles, knuckles, Diff carriers). Now these types of parts are very limited .
