part time light wont turn off
89 laredo . part time 4 wheel drive light wont turn off. drove in reverse forever. think the neighbors think i am crazy now. thinking about disconnecting the battery and seeing if that resets the light. or looking for a switch or relay

When I bought mine the ABS and part time light were both on. Neither worried me because it was actually going in and out of X4 and stopping like it should... I replaced the ECU for another issue and both lights went out. I wouldn't have thought that the ECU would effect the part time light, maybe it was just having the battery disconnected for a couple hours???
PS: I did put it up in the air and pressurewash EVERYTHING, mine could have been a wireing issue too...

In his case prolly the vacuum lines that command the front disconnect have a leak and the light stays on.

There are several vacuum lines that go in the TC, with a special triangular connector. Check for leaks there and follow the lines that go from the right fender panel over the blower motor to the front right bumper to the vacuum reservoir.

You should purchase a manual with vacuum diagrams, have a look here:

ok put he jeep up on jacks and i can confirm its in 2 wheel drive. only the left rear tire was turning and barely the right. i am pretty sure this is normal. as far as the transfer it only has 4 postions 2whl n 4h 4l. i think i spotted the vacuum lines, they have different colors and i think i found the switch. not when i trouble shoot it what should i do or rather how should i test it?
