Part time 4WD ???
I have a 2000 sport, auto trans and whenever I put in 4WD its says part time. Don't matter if I put it 4hi or 4lo. Is there a way for it not to say part time or is it always the same??
Thanks for any help

Well, the guy above told you a way to make your Part Time light go out that would definitely work. However, the better thing to do would probably be to tell you how the Part Time light actually works. The Part Time light is basically your "4WD" indicator light. Anytime you shift your TC out of 2WD and into 4HI or 4LO your Part Time indicator light will come on. That is normal operation. It tells you that your Jeep in in 4WD and to shift it out before driving onto a hard non slippery surface. Now, if your Part Time light is staying on when you are in 2HI then you have a short or your TC is messed up and not actually shifting out of 4WD. I hope this helps you.

If you have the lever in the 2WD position, it doesn't necessarily mean it has gone to 2WD. You can force it in, but there is only a little spring that disengages it. Most of the time it will stay in for a little while. You can let off the gas while moving or stop and back up and then it will disengage.

Had that same problem on a YJ. It was the shift fork on the front axle that was not disengaging causing the light to stay on. I just installed a "Posi-Lock" and got rid of that $hittiy vaccum disconnect. No more problems.

You have the np242 transfer case with Full-time 4wd (for driving on the street in bad conditions and Part-time 4wd (for offroad and when you're stuck). I've got similar issues. I'm going to get underneath tomorrow, but it's probably a transfer case shifter adjustment issue and/or position indication switch issue.
