Part Number / Source for Brake Caliper Banjo Bolts and Copper Washers?
I replaced my front brake calipers with remanufactured calipers from NAPA. After driving I noticed brake fluid weeping from the seal at the copper washer between the banjo bolt and right caliper surface. I had used the new NAPA hardware (2 X banjo bolts and 4 X copper washers) that came with the remanufactured calipers and threw away my old washers.
I stopped the leak by tightening the banjo bolt well past the appropriate torque spec, to the point that I started to worry about snapping the head off the hollow bolt. I know others have had similar problems and found solutions such as annealing the washers, filing the caliper surface, etc. I want to get some new banjo bolts and copper washers to re-do this properly when I have time and want to avoid the NAPA parts if possible. Even if I found OEM washers I wouldn't feel comfortable reusing my banjo bolt after torquing it so hard. Any suggestions as to a source for decent hardware or part numbers to track this down? Crown part number 6035911AA looks like the correct banjo bolt but I'm not sure what washers to buy. |
