Default Part number for rubber valve cover gasket with metal core?

I've got to do my valve cover since its leaking and would like to use a reusable rubber gasket with a metal core. Anyone have a part number or know where I could get one ?

Any auto parts store. I got my rubber Fel pro cover from Autozone for about $30. Well worth the money. Not sure about the part# though

The one I posted definitely comes with a metal core (I used it myself, that is why I know that). Not sure about the other one though. Also, the one I posted comes with 15 rubber grommets (one for each valve cover bolt) that helps to prevent overtightening (which is a very good thing for our rigs since it is common to snap valve cover bolts - ask me how i know! Grrrrrr) and also prevents leakage at each bolt location. The one you're asking about looks like it doesn't come with those grommets so I would go with VS50458R (which is the part number that comes up for your year anyways on rockauto.com). If you're asking about the other part number, trying to save a few bucks, don't! You never want to cheap out on gaskets or you'll be replacing them twice as often as a quality one. And buy the gasket from an auto parts store, not online. Chances are, the package will get thrown around and there's a good chance the gasket will get damaged.

true that on the cheap gaskets...

Ive replaced my valve cover twice in the last year with the $7 cork ones and its leaking AGAIN! I even heavily coated it with silicone this time and was careful not to crush it....

See, and in the end, it'll add up to what you would have paid for a quality one... And you would have only had to change it once!

Thanks for posting up the information. I'm going to call around today to see who sells that gasket you posted.

but I just love taking my valve cover off all the time!

I actually found out my vc bolts just came lose again, always the ones in the back. seems to not be leaking anymore, but still you cant tighten down the cheap ones much cause they crush. can I use loc tite or something on those bastards?

You could always pick up some grade 8 hardware to replace it I've heard of people doing that so they can tighten them more and not worry as much about snapping. And I don't see why you couldn't use a little loc tite
