installed 3 inch lift and get vibrations, help?
hi just installed a 3 inch rough country lift on my 97 cherokee sport and am getting some slight vibrations. I have not gotten an alignment done yet so im wondering if that could contribute to it. I removed the front drive shaft to see if a transfer case drop might solve the problem the vibration was less but still persistent. if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated thanks!

no i have not dropped the transfer case and ill i did to the rear axle was a new leaf spring and shock

Why in the world would he need a shorter driveshaft? makes no sense. if anything he'd need a longer one.
This is my personal opinion: vibrations in the driveshaft are caused by the u-joints binding and unbinding as the driveshaft rotates. when you have u-joints that are who knows how old and you change the angle at which they operate it tends to make them very unhappy. I would recommend to anyone doing a lift that they also replace the u-joints on the rear and front driveshaft unless they know that the joints are less than 5 years old. Most likely the u-joints on your Jeep are the originals from the factory. They're not expensive or hard to replace.

Yupp, you can change the u-joints in those. the u-joints contain needle bearings and grease. over time and with age the grease dries out, dirt and crap get in there and the needle bearings wear down. I've seen this cause a u-joint to bind and explode.

is it not my understanding that big lifts need short shafts?? i've herd people say they have vibrations and the answer is shorter driveshaft? i was jsut trying to share what other people did to solve thier problems... my bad lol
