So the #7 Fuse (Drivers side parking light) keeps blowing and I'm unsure why. When I replace the fuse with a fresh one and go to turn the parking lights on, I hear a motor struggling sound from the rear hatch. I am pretty sure it's the hatch lock mechanism. It will make the sound for just a second before blowing the fuse. Power locks are unaffected and work fine.
I can't figure it out, and I'm hoping someone has had a similar problem or can point me in the right direction. GREATLY appreciated!

I didn't have that prob but i heard someone talking about it or something close. There was a wire under his hatch interior that the wire was actually spliced a little and it kept grounding on the body. Not sure if this is the same thing but i would check the wiring and make sure the wiring is all intact
Just found out it only blows the fuse when the hatch is closed, if the hatch is open the fuse wont blow and the parking light works fine. Once closed, motor makes the sound and fuse then pops....
I'll take a look at the wiring tomorrow as best I can, electrical problems are the worst...

Hey guys had similar issue with a 91. My tail lights would blow fuse only when hatch was closed. Found bad ground on Drivers side behind rear quarter panel. Found a loose ground wire on body. Hope this helps.
Okay, I have yet to fix this issue and was pulled over the other night for it being out.
I took off the interior panel on the rear gate to try and pin point the problem. Didn't see anything. Unplugged each plug one by one in an attempt to track the short or problem. Nothing.
I've gone through about 15 fuses now.
I turn on the parking lights, I hear what sounds like the rear gate electric lock motor start to struggle, then the Drivers Side Parking Light Fuse (#7) blows...
Any other ideas, or how I could maybe fix this?

Did you look at the wire bundle that goes from the top of the body to the hatch?(With the hatch open)
Do you have a trailer wiring harness? That might be another place to look.
