Default Park to drive issues?

Ok it's a 97 4.0 country 4x4

When I go from park to drive it shifts in real hard.

No noise (besides my leaf springs rattling) just feels

like it pushes you into the seat. I have adjusted the throttle cable.

Whats next. any ideas would very appreciated.

and if you say TCM let me know were it is and how to adjust it.

I have an idea of where and how I would just like to read it from another member.

Thank you

If you are feeling a strong jerk in the seat of your pants when going from park to drive I'd say you have too much play in your rear diff or a bad U-joint. Or your Jeep could be idling higher than normal.

Oh I forgot. Not really sure about the 97 and up XJs but in a 91-96 XJ your TCM or Transmission Control Module is located under the dash over on the passenger side inboard close to the tranny hump. Also the TCM is not adjustable to my knowledge. Its just a plug in module that has preset parameters that puts the automatic function in your automatic tranny. It's actually kind of cool. If you unplug the TCU your AW4 auto tranny becomes fully manual.

Sorry I meant the tps that is adjustable correct? and I believe it is on the throttle body. is it the connection on the passenger side of the throttle body. I have my digi multimeter ready.

check your t case fluid. mine had leaked down pretty low, i refilled it and it shifts real smooth now. Not saying thats for sure your problem but it's easy to check.
