paint question
okay im buying this kit from ebay heres a linky
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/U-POL...spagenameZWDVW
anyways its the tintable version so i can put my own color in it.. googled it and i seen people that used the tintable version and they said whatever color you want you better get it in really dark when you mix it because theres grey in the liner and it makes your color light.. so im going to go really dark green or blue but the question is what kind of paint do i tint it with ???? thanks in advance

First great choice I love the Raptor kit! but you can get it all day here for $100 http://www.tptools.com/Product.aspx?display_id=2600 so you can skip the ebay middle man. As for the paint you need to use a urethane base paint to tint it same kind you would use to paint a car. Summit's new Urethane paints are really good paints and they are very reasonably priced. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch

No prob if you can find a urethane base that is cheaper than go for it! It does not have to be acrylic & you should not need a gallon also I'm pretty sure you still have to mix the base with it's own catalyst before mixing with the bed coating. It's a lot of mixing and cleaning when it's all said & done but it will look cool.

That is a good start but it still need alot more scuffing. you are better off wet sanding keeps the paper or pad clean and does a better job. If you are using paper than soak it in a bucket of water with some dish soap in it just a little and go to town man the more you prep the better than before you do it clean it all off with a paint prep product. I think one kit is a gallon and will cover 125 Sqft so one might do it but don't quote me on that and then you will need 10% in base color so for every kit you will need a quart of paint. Also get some rust converter and cheap rattle can primer for those rust spots other wise it will still rust through the other side it's real cheap converter is like $5 and you can get some primer from walmart for a buck.

Hey here is a pic of a black XJ that is ready for primer & paint. This is what you should aim for but this is a job for a guy that took me two days! Bet you can find the dents or rust spots.
Let me know when you think your ready and show me some pics.

No Because the liner is thick & has chunks in it so it will hide everything. That's all primer does is fill and hide that last little bit so the paint looks smooth. I even use it when I rattle can stuff so it sticks better a comes out smother but you don't need it with bedliner.
