P1391: No clue now?

Hello all,

I made a post about a couple weeks ago about my jeep bucking and missing. I have changed the Crank position sensor and the cam position sensor and from as far as I know, those two are the ones that would throw that code. I ran it after being cleared and the code did return, which I didn't have when I made the post a couple weeks ago.

My only guess may be a corroded connection at the ECM? I'm changing the throttle body tomorrow, but I am not to optimistic about that solving the problem.

The code reads as:

P1391
-Interim loss of CMP or CKP

Any advice on where to go from here would be much appreciated!! Just hit a deer in my daily driver tonight so I would love to have my jeep to drive around until I get that all fixed up.

Thanks!

I would get a can of electrical contact cleaner. Available anywhere including WalMart. Thoroughly spray the connectors for the crank sensor and the cam sensor. There are 2 crank sensor connectors; the one on the sensor itself and there is also one in the engine bay near the firewall / #6 injector. Add a small dab of dielectric grease and reconnect all sensors. A tiny bit of debris or resistance in a connector is a possibility that you need to consider. I've had this happen.

Okay thats not to bad. It's good to see that this could solve it atleast. I will try that next. Thank you!
