Question P0463

G'Day folks ...
I have a 98 xj... sat for 3 years...
Siphoned the old fuel out
Replaced the battery... starter... crankshaft sensor... fuel injectors... planning on replacing plugs wires and cap this weekend
Anyway... the code P0463 appeared after I siphoned the tank so I think maybe I damaged something at that point.
The engine starts up and will run for 15 minutes or so and then sputter out... won't restart until the engine cools back down.
One thing I noticed when I reset the ECM... the gas gauge worked for a moment then shut off or failed to show the tank level....
I have no check engine lights showing

Could this code be causing the stall and fail to restart?
Thanks...

I'd guess wiring to the sensor, possibly a damaged ground wire.

Thanks for the reply...
I'm wondering if I possibly caused the issue when cleaning the engine bay...

What crankshaft position sensor did you use and why did you replace it? If you didn't go OEM, I'd stick the old one back in there and see what happens.

The battery was dead ... I turned the starter one too many times trying to get the engine started that it went...
The injectors were nasty as well as the ports they sit in... there was so much crap carbon built up in them.
Didn't go oem on the CPS... But I kept the original in the event i wanted to swap it back....
Stalling and rough idle would be the main reason I replaced it... shaking barley able to keep running.
So you suggest I put the original back?

Too many horror stories about non-OEM CPS. I would try it for sure.
