P0171

Gotta SES light, pulled the code, P0171 "System running too lean". Looked under at my downstream O2 sensor, it's wires are pulled extremely tight, no slack, I'm thinking they have been pulled and are broken internally from all the rocks I've banged with my catalytic converter and muffler.

Does this make sense? would it read as too lean if the downstream O2 sensor is not checking in? What's the pinout so I can splice in a new universal O2 sensor instead of paying an arm and a leg for an OEM O2 Sensor?

Thanks!

Yes it can. Go to Summit Racing. O2 sensors are like $20

I got this same code P0171 on my Jeep after driving on the highway in the winter cold. My Jeep ran great at first but then started to lose responsiveness and then began to drop RPM's, it eventually just misfired and died. Started right up again. Can't believe it's the fuel pump because if it was then I wouldn't still be able to drive it. It's gotta be an emissions thing I think, especially after this code. It's driving ok now, but still not "powerful" feeling like it use to be.

If I was u I would check around your local pick and pull or junk yard and price stock once before installing a universal one.
