Hey folks,
throwing a P0161 after changing oil to T6 5w-30. 2001 xj with no catalytic converter, didn’t think I had any 02 sensors. Is this just a bug? Maybe the extra emissions from the zinc in the oil is causing something to act up. Cheers.

Do you have the 2.5 diesel or are you just running diesel oil in your gas engine?
The P0161 code is 2/2 O2 SENSOR HEATER FAILURE. This is bank 2 sensor 2 (after the cat).
If you have a gas engine and no cat, no O2 sensors, then this is the source of your code. Do you show any other codes?
What year is your XJ?

From the factory, your XJ had a cat and 2 O2 sensors (assuming gas engine with US federal emissions package). If you have removed the cat then your downstream O2 sensor will throw a P0161.
