ox locker question.
ok so i'm having no luck with either locker that i've tried to put in. i got ahold of powertrax and they sent me the wrong one. so i sent that back. so i'm trying to put in my ox locker in the front end. here's my problem. when i was trying to put the locking diff back in the housing i got it all the way in on the driver's side but not all the way in on the passenger side...maybe 1/4 inch off from being seated all the way. it spun ok...a little binding and noise but i figured that it would stop when i got it all the way seated. well i put the bearing cap back on and tightened it down to seat it all the way and the diff wouldn't spin at all. siezed like a drug dealer's benz. i've tried it with the shims from the factory on there...without shims on both sides and various combinations of both...please someone help!!! i need this done by memorial day weekend!!!

thats what i'm sayin...i'd rather not get on an off camber hill 100 feet above the canyon floor and have the front end blow up on me. that would suck esspecially if the wife and kids are in the jeep with me.

David, those gears are too tight. First off, you should have checked the backlash BEFORE you took the old ones out. Then you would just have to match it. Now what you have to do is to remove it and start from scratch with a dial indicator. If you don't know how to do this I would seriously recommend having a professional do it for you, then you can finish it off.

yeah thats what i'm thinkin...i did some research on it before i pulled it apart but i guess i bit off more than i could chew with this one. just not having the right equipment and tools to do the job is my problem. i know i could figure it out sooner or later but i dont want to mess things up anymore than i already have. plus if i have that guy do it i can get a better idea of what it actually takes to do it. anything suspension, or motor related and i'm there almost all the time. but diffs and trannys is a different thing all together....thank you guys for all your help..i'll just have to leave this one up to a pro
