Question overheating fuel ballast.

So i got my jeep back from a mechanic who fixed my charging problem. He hooked the solenoid up right. But now when i drive it, when i throttle it just dies, and fuel ballast heats up and gets hot to the touch. Anyone have any ideas? i replaced the ballast.

Could be a failing fuel pump drawing too much current. Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge?

Good call. Maybe unplug the connector @ the pump and see if it still gets hot.

Make sure the connectors are tight on the ballast. If they're loose, there's is a bunch of resistance causing the heat. Not to mention the fuel pump doesn't get enough voltage to run.

Lightbulb

It was my solenoid. I had a mechanic fix a bunch of ghetto wires under the dashed that were all messed up. I gave up on those. But the mechanic had th solenoid put back to the way his diagram said. So i undid the red wire and it was good to go!!!!!
