overheating! ><
i cant figure ouyt why my jeep is over heating. it has a new radiator, all new hoses, t stat, water pump, heater hoses, fans... and no it is not airlocked
|
Did you flush it with a garden hose?
Pull out the thermostat and flush it with a hose again. Might be a cracked head/head gasket. |
we did flush it, not a cracked head or gasket. it doesnt do it all the time. just after driving for 30-45 mins will it start to over heat
|
turn on the AC while its parked, make sure both fans are turning.
I assume you have good oil pressure. How bad did the coolant look the first time you flushed? |

it wasnt to bad. both fans work. i think my t stat is opening and closing and getting stuck.

Thats a cheap and easy check grab a new one and gasket and try a swap if you want to know for sure through it in a pan of hot water to see if it opens first then pull her out and watch it close.

A/C condenser clear/clean, not plugged with mud/bugs/trash? Verified overheating with a gauge other than the factory dash gauge? New t-stats have been known to be bad, rarely. Like rich said, test it.
FWIW, here's pics of a 180 t-stat closed and wide open at 195. |
i know its over heating because its boiling.
|
Replace the rad cap? A good 16psi cap and 50/50 mix coolant/antifreeze should give +/-260F boilover protection.
|
ill try that. its not quiet 50/50
|
Run the heat and then check your coolant temp and level. Use a code reader to get the temp from the ecu.
