Default over heating problems

Ok I have a 96 jeep Cherokee 4.0l I have a overheating/not starting problem. Ok I did a engine swap on my xj it came out of a 93-96 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 l. It was a easy swap but I noticed that my orginal engine a had a sensor on the head drive side all the way by the fire wall. Advance said it was a tempature sensor. But the engine I got does not have that sensor on it. And now when it idles or if I'm creaping of a long time it over heats really quick. My old engine never did that. But if it is hot and I turn my jeep off. It take like 30 mins to an hour to get it to restart. It will only turn over that's it. I'm puzzled I can't even go wheelin bc I'm afraid it won't start and I don't want to sit there and let it cool down. Well If anyone knows anything let me know thanks

Do your fans kick on? Is your antifreese old? What kind of thermostat are you running? Mine will go up to 230 or so if I drive under 30 mph but it never gets to the point of never startin

add a separate tranny cooler, that will take some of the demand off the coolant... also, like shift879 mentioned, the fluids! they are crutial! what about your air intake, is the filter good? idk...

Have you done a compression test? The coolant temperature sensor, or lack there of, will not cause an overheating issue.
