Default Ooops Tranny Lines

Ok so one of two things has happened. I noticed this the other day when replacing my starter. The lines are pinched. This was either caused by the Motor mount bracket shearing off a while back. Or it could be from flex into the radius arm. I am not sure which doesn't really matter since it happened haha.. Going to put some bump stops on as soon as I can. Also going to fix the lines. I was thinking of just cutting out a section and putting in a rubber hose with clamps that way if it happens again I will see a leak or it will not do any damage. Im open to other suggestions on the fix. This is more of informative to others that may have done this without knowing. They are not leaking but they are obviously restricting flow which causes a heat issue on the tranny.

95 Country 4.0 auto

Yours may not look like this if you have stock motor mount brackets. Mine are BrownDog that's why it may look different than yours.

I'd go to a transmission shop and have all new steel lines made up and installed.

If rubber was good, that's what the factory would have used.

actually the hoses are rubber in front of the engine on the way to the cooler. They look braid reinforced, but they're rubber nonetheless

Having metal lines is the best for it. But having cool tranny fluid flow to your transmission is even more important. Cut the bad section out and put rubber lines on until you find a happy day to put full replacements on.

Rubber works fine, it's like 13psi.

They are braid reinforced, but like all rubber it will dry rot.

Especially when exposed to petroleum products.

Also, where his problem is, one good sharp rock thrown up there can cut a line for sure.

Hydrolic line is what you need. Trans fluid will eat normal rubber line.

Your trans will be dead in 5 minutes at 250F. Operating temp is around 160.

I think he means the block getting that hot and melting the line. It might happen, didn't on mine.

There are plenty of regular rubber hoses all around stuff that gets way hotter and it's fine. You guys are over thinking this.

That would make it colder than the engine coolant. So why does the radiator have a transmission tank in it?

No, trans fluid temps easily hit 250 under heavy load. You know, pulling a trailer or off-roading, hill climbs, stuff like that. You just don't want it there for a long time.

I bought 1 foot of rubber transmission line and some hose clamps. I'm gonna cut the bad section out and place the rubber hose in. It will work for time being. If i ever brake or bust a line in the future I may replace the hole thing and Ill have about 8 inches of spare hose for trail breakage. the one thing I noticed is that this is something that could easily happen to others and not even know. The line I bought is rated for transmission cooler lines so it will be fine. Since the pressure isn't all that much my fix will suffice. If it were a daily driver I may look into replacing the lines but since this rig is bashed in the woods/trails I can for see my fix out lasting the tranny itself haha.
