Ok i have a couple quick questions...

1. will a dana 35 diff fit in a dana 44, i know the axles will not... already tryed.

2 will a dana 35 out of a 2002 wrangler fit under an xj...

3. i forgot what it was...

my rear axle is shot.. it has no bearing in the pass side, and the housing is well lets just say theres a hole the size where the bearing should be.

You will have to cut off the 4 link brackets and weld on spring perches and shock mounts.

i remember the 3rd question... is there a differnce in the casing by year... i found out that this casing i bought is in fact a dana 35 however my axle doesnt fit in it... and the jeep has a 35 in it as well.... i found this but this is the only thing

Nope you'd have to do some mods to it. Is there not any cherokee's in the local junkyard or picknpull? That might be ur best bet for a direct swap. Just makes sure it has the same gear ratio as the front.

i found one... same year just.. how ever i dont know if the gearing is the same... i believe i have 3.74 gearing.. would i beable to just put the diff in or would i have to change the pinion gear aswell?

If it has the same gearing then you can just put the carrier and ring gear in. If not then you have to change both.

Are you sure? Mixing matched(worn together) gear sets on anything else can and usually does cause accelerated wear in a best case scenario. If you just swapped the ring gear, you'll have no control on pinion depth, and what kind of backlash/mesh pattern you got.

Counting teeth is the best way. Tags get lost and aren't a 100% guarantee whats inside. Here a list of standard ratios from Wiki:

3.07:1, manual transmission, I6 engine.
3.54:1, automatic transmission, I6 engine with Dana 44 rear differential.
3.54:1, manual transmission, I4 diesel engine with Dana 35 rear differential.
3.55:1, automatic transmission, I6, V6 engines; manual transmission, I4 engine.
3.73:1, automatic transmission, I6, Tow Package, UpCountry Package.
4.10:1, manual transmission, V6; automatic transmission, I4 engine.
4.56:1, automatic transmission, I4, offroad or tow package.

I think that 3.74 you got is a 3.73
