Unhappy Ok got a new problem with the XJ ???

Well it is always a new one popping up ! Now it seems to be a break in the wiring to the injectors somewhere in the line ? Shows a misfire on different cylinders on the code reader, I use. And I am looking at my Check Gauges , Check engine light on dashboard ? all gauges are working, and reading correct ? What's up with that ??
Car is missing at lower rpm's, but seems to run fine at higher rpm's .
anybody had these problems ever come up ????
Thanks for any help........... Mouse

For inconsistent misfire on multiple cylinders , I would start by looking at the distributor. On a 97, you have +12volts to all injectors, and the computer switches the ground. I would also inspect the wiring along the injectors back to the firewall. It's not uncommon for that wire to rub and flex to the point of breaking between the back of the head and the firewall. Bad motor mounts exacerbate the movement and over time can cause the fraying of the wires too.

Thanks for the info Lawsoncl , Will try that !
I have a 1997 XJ with a 4.0 engine, and motor mounts were changed 2 years ago, when we had a rebuild engine installed. Also installed a dist., couple months ago.
I do think the problem is with wiring hardness, Would love to change that, but don't know where to find one of them ??

Thanks for four the Help and info......Mouse
