Default which oil pump?

As part of an engine build I need to choose which oil pump: melling or omix-ada.

The omix-ada is $25 more than the melling, so is it worth it?

Melling makes a good pump.

Just make sure it's not a high volume pump.

Melling works fine. I put the Melling HV pump in my '92 4.0. Had to bash the oil pan to get it to fit. Didn't help my oil pressure at all. This was years ago too. I also run the risk of stripping the pump drive with the HV pump and thicker oil. fail.

Have absolutely no intentions of changing out my stock pump but just curious Ken, why not a high volume pump?

Read post #3.

There have been many cases of the oil pump drive gear wiping out when a HV pump has been installed. In some cases, the pump mounting flange on the block interferes with the pump flange, requiring removing metal from the block so the pump seats properly.
