Oil pressure very high after oil change...need opinions
Hey all, haven't been on in a while but I am traveling and some need some opinions quick to help me get back on the road. Would be greatly appreciated.
So like it says, my oil pressure gauge is maxed out (way past 80) after I changed oil. I changed it from Valvoline 5w-30 to Pennzoil 10w-30 since I was in Michigan winter and now I'm in warmer Oregon. New oil filter is Wix, old was K&N. I put in 5 1/2 quarts and dipstick shows right at middle mark.
My gauge seems to have always been reading fine (around 40-50 I think), until right after this oil change. My best logical guess would be that it has something to do with switching to a different viscosity oil. It's not smoking or sounding or running weird...nothing like that (yet).
Any ideas what I should do? Should I use seafoam in oil then change oil & filter again? I really don't want to change again but I'll do what I need to do to get back on the road. Thanks!

+1 I would bet it's more likely that your pressure sender is acting up. Maybe even just try jiggling the wires on it. It's right above the filter so it's not hard to damage and at the very least you probably bumped the wires on it while changing the oil.

Yep, the connector had just come unplugged lol. Well, that was a quick fix and a quick thread haha. Thanks
