Oil pressure reads high after replacing distributor.

So I finally did a tuneup, which actually involved replacing my distributor because both screws for the cap snapped off... and then a hardened bit broke off while trying to drill them out. Bad luck.

So, new distributor's in and now my gauge is reading a hair over 60 when it used to read at 40 on the dot. I'm due for an oil change and am considering replacing the sending unit while I'm at it. Does anyone else have any other ideas?

I'll bet you bumped the sending unit during the dizzy repair. They're wimpy units.

If your really concerned about actual oil pressure install a high quality mechanical gauge. The very cheap bi-metal factory gauge was never meant to be used as a diagnostic tool. IMO I wouldn’t care what the gauge reads as long as it is not reading zero.
