I have an 89 XJ with a 4.0L auto. What is the oil pressure supposed to run at?? My gauge bounces all over and I am wondering what it is supposed to run at. I am planning on installing some different gauges.

Mine runs at 40psi at idle and 60 while im driving, it has 210,600 miles on it...Tj

if your guage is all over the place, i would verify the psi with a manual guage. you can tee in at the same port your pressure sender is in. typically 1/8 NPT threads. you should warm up the engine to get an accurate read, check it at idle and at normal driving rpm. this way you know for sure what your electric guage should read.

40-50 at idle and 60 all the res of the time...you probally have a faulty sender/guage if its bouncing........
