oil pressure

I think my oil pressure is too high.
when im in second gear right around 2000 rpms im almost at 80 psi.

it idles around 45 to 50

this just doesnt seem right. . . or is the OP gauge in the cherokees just a dummy gauge

parkerbabco 03-19-2009 03:26 PM

normal.. should be around 60 while driving idle should be around 40

jeep_guy3 03-19-2009 03:28 PM

whats an easy way to get it higher if it is at around 10 and 20 psi?

BowtieGuy3 03-19-2009 03:49 PM

10/40 or 15/40 for winter, if that doesn't help, try 20/50 in summer.

You cannot say that unless you actually test the gauge against a mechanical. mine runs ~10-20 at idle, and the gauge is actually right

these are still a tad thin if your running low oil pressure. itll run 10w, 15w, and 20w when the oil warms up.
