ok i just had to replace lifters, pushrods and 3 set of rocker arm keepers. now she taps for a few seconds and quiets down. but the oil pressure spikes to 80 psi at 1500 rpm. what is going on?

Most likely a failing oil pressure sending unit. You can test it with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify if you like.

If you buy one, buy it from Jeep for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. Well worth the extra money.

im not so sure because when we had the head off the oil was so thick and congealed around the rockers. the reason i had to change the lifters is because i pretzeld a pushrod on #6. like i said it still taps for a second when i start it. and thats with the new lifters. this spike in pressure never happened before we did this maintenance. could it possibly be an oil galley plugged

whats the best way to flush the motor and what product should i use? ive been told many different things all the way down to using diesel fuel.

Try running Seafoam thru the engine for a bit and changing the Oil. We use it alot in our Goldwings, seems to do a good job of cleaning out the engine. Also a good fuel protector and cleaner
