Thanks for the manual. Will read it over.

Yeah the RMS has some lips on it. We faced the lips towards the front of the engine, like Alldata said.

The RMS never leaked before I took the pan off to replace the oil pump so I'm not convinced it is leaking now.

when i did my main and pan gasket the 1piece fel pro was a pain in the *** around the back of the pan... it leaked everytime. what i did was cut off the back part of the gasket, and use silicone on it... that worked.

the gasket just doesn't sit against the pan very well in the back and the gasket has to sit in the groove or else it will leak very badly....

i had to do it several times

Might be my issue. Was it coming down on the back side of the dust cover? Most the rear main leaks I see come down on the front of the dust cover. My leak is on the back, on the flywheel side, making me think it's something like you are saying.

Both the ones I put on were Fel Pro rubber or silicone. Can't remember if it was blue or not.

I didn't look honestly. But, there is only one way the lower seal can go in and that is with lips towards the front. The top matches that and Alldata.

I have dropped several pans and done a hell of a lot more complicated jobs too. Not sure why this is whippin my ***. I would not even GAF if it wasn't getting on my exhaust pipe and making it look like the heap is on fire at stop lights.

those are the only to areas that low that can be leaking oil 100 percent it not coming from above

Problem is, I can't trace it because it goes up behind that damn dust cover!
