WIX is what I use. Others use other brands but I dont know any jeeper that uses a fram. I think they are junk!

Bosch is one of the best, but expensive ( I think at, or close to 6 bucks for the 4.0)
If you want a cheaper one, Napa silver is good, they are made by wix and have a silicone drainback valve.

With good oil and a bosch/wix filter I would feel safe doing 5000mi with light driving. (Im doing a 5000 oci right now on semi synth and napa silver)

Haha the Fram was 50 cents more then bosh and its a horror story waiting to happen, well i will ignore the Autozone employees input of him saying he went to the K&N Factory and saw a cut away that showed fram being one of the best.

Also the heavier the filter the better ? Idk I notice the Bosch,Mobile 1,and K&N are heavier then any Fram and the Stp filters.

They have better springs, thicker cans, more filter media, etc. So yes, they are a little heavier.

Most people run 5w30 or 10w30 conventional oil I would recommend Valvoline,mobile1 or Penzoil never put quaker state,Super Tech or Rotella T i hear that no one likes them because they cause a horrible sludge build up.

rotella is good oil and tons of people run it in the 4.0... Dont know where the hell you heard that.
Pennzoil and QS are the ones said to cause the most sludge.
Walmart oil is made by Ashland (valvoline) in some parts of the country and WPP in others, people on BITOG have done lots of tests on it and its an OK oil.

My last oil change was right after a big check so I went all out. I seafoamed the crank case, ran it for a little bit. Then did a 2 hour drain then a flush with some 5w30 napa oil. Then filled her up with 5w30 Royal Purple with a Napa gold filter. It is amazing. I no longer have lifter noises and she runs so much smoother. Royal purple is hella expensive, like 10 bucks a quart but I think it's worth it

Yea, I think Royal Purple is worth it, then again I like to spoil my XJ... nothing but the best for Chery.

Purolator Pure One.

Extremely highly rated, great filtration, and not that much more (on sale) than others. I think I pay about $6.00

the thing about a fram filter is that the one way valve is cardboard against rubber, been a while and have no knowlege if they improved this but one failure for me is enough to change.
