Default Oil filter is CRAZY STUCK. Any ideas?

My oil filter is crazy stuck. I tried a filter wrench, my hands, the little 1/8 wrench attachment, and even the screwdriver method. It's still stuck. Any ideas how to get that bad boy off?!

Put the screwdriver all the way through the middle. Ya you need a big one and it wont go in easy. But if I could do a movie quote from 300 I think "You will not enjoy this and it wont be over quickly" something to that effect.

BY the screw driver method I`m guessing you mean placing a huge flathead screw driver on the rim of the filter then pounding on it with a hammer to turn the filter off bit by bit... That`s what I had to do, the owner before me must have cranked the **** out of it in an attempt to stop a leak or maybe he was just dumb

You can use a long pry bar, hit one end into the left side of the filter on the metal rim and pound it with a hammer. I had to do that once worked like a charm filter was a little bent though, didn't damage anything either (maybe I was just lucky though)

no he means take a long screwdriver and DRIVE IT IN TO THE BELLY OF THE LION!!!!!!! just stab it through the dead center and punch it out the other side. then turn it that way. when it is loose pull the screwdriver out and twist off.

Hope it doesnt have an orange can of death on it. Or youll end up just ripping the screwdriver out of the cheap metal. Then youll really be screwed.

Try autoZ for a filter cap style wrench with a nut attached to the crown (use 3/8" ratchet blah blah)......the PO of my XJ was a nimwit and my filter looked like swiss cheese by the time I got it off (weighed like 2 pounds too lol) I saw the cap wrenches yesterday and resolved that if I was ever stupid enough not to oil the gasket and over tighten, I would run down and get one of those, makes a nice yamika too!

oil filter vice grips

I had this happen to me once and this is the only thing that worked. It works great too, just put it on the flange where it wont crush the filter too bad, use some forearm strength to clamp it and it should come off. I use it every oil change now

If you want you could take the oil filter adapter off of your Jeep and try removing the filter.

If you get pissed off enough, you can just puncture it with a large screwdriver and use that to turn it.
