Default oil filter alert

My local NAPA had a bulk oil filter sale recently. I bought a dozen NAPA gold1515 oil filters. I went to use one today and discovered the filter was made in China not the USA. So if you go to a NAPA store, unless you get old stock handed to you ,expect good old made in CHINA.

That's been the case for at least a year. No longer made by Wix. Sad

The Napa gold had to be one of the top selling products for them...I can't imagine why you would throw the loyal customers under the bus with a cheap made filter switch-a-roo...I bought the wix filters by the case from amazon and they're still USA stock....

Yep, they switched production a while back. The Gold 1515s are now made in China. It's a real disappointment.

Angry Bad NAPA oil filters

My oil pressure was taking longer to come up to normal, so I just changed my oil and filter a couple hundred miles age. So first I was thinking maybe my oil pump was starting to go bad or my motor needed to be rebuilt (120,000 mile on it). I decided to change the oil and filter thinking maybe the filter was starting to get clogged (my oil pressure is good when running). When I took my oil filter off it was empty, normal oil runs out of it. So I put the new NAPA oil filter on with new oil. Ran it and the same thing happened. Went and picked up a purolator oil filter. Let the motor cool a little removed the NAPA oil filter and it was empty again. Put the Purolator oil filter on and ran it. Let it sit for a half hour started it up and the oil pressure came up right away. Long story short the anti drain back valves are bad in the NAPA oil filters. Took the oil filer back to NAPA and they said to call customer service and let them know about it. Called customer service twice and let them know the problem with there oil filters and have not heard back in several months. I guess they can care less about there customers. Will not be buying anything from NAPA again.

My go-to filter is the Wix 51515, which is the extended-capacity option.

Considering the 4.0 takes 6 quarts with the regular-sized filter, I would hope so.

You can add Mobil 1 to the offshoring list. When changing my oil today I noticed the filter looked different.

The new one is made in Vietnam. The difference in the drain back valve immediately caught my eye. Don’t trust it. I will be replacing it soon

Unhappy Bad products

I understand a company has to make a profit, but when your product quality goes down your customers will go elsewhere. That is the beginning of the end of the company, I have seen it before. I would gladly pay more for a high quality part then be stuck with junk.

Well, this is interesting. I recently ordered a Wix 51515 (not Napa Gold) from Amazon, and this is what showed up. It looks a whole lot like what Offroadnutz posted above.
