My friend just bought a 1999 grand cherokee. the power door locks activate from locked to unlocked while he is driving and while truck is off (ignition key out). about every 15 seconds this happens. dome light illuminates like a stobe light during this. i have found no fuse to this feature. this situation can go on all day and night. any answers to help him out? really don't want to go to a dealer. thanx for any suggestions!

this is kind of a hard one with out looking at it, could be a number of things mine ended up being the switch the guts were lose and when i hit a bump it would lock or unlock

Not supposed to lock w/keys in the ignition. There has to be a bare wire somewhere. Has anything been done to this vehicle, remote start,stereo, alarm?

Key does not have to be in ignition either. the darn thing sits there by itself and locks/unlocks about every 30 secs. my friend can hear it going on all night long! key fob/remote works ok. something is not telling the locks what the vehicle is doing.

By the way Turbo....no mods evident. it does have 170,000 mi on it but somebody took real good care of it & a pile of service records came with it.

Congrats & thanks to freegdr!!!! taking the batteries out of the remote seems to have cured the lock/unlock problem. it amazes me how it could send a signal not only 100 ft away but also through the walls of the trailer my friend lives in. guess the batteries are low. my friend thanks you.
