off and on blower motor operation
I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, my problem is the blower motor does not work all the time. there is no pattern to it's operation. It might come on when I switch between A/C or vent or heat and then it might not. Sometimes it will just stop while I'm driving or it might start while I'm driving, after being off for any length of time.
When it works all speeds work the BMR is good and the speed select switch is good. Any ideas?
Also I do have 1949 ****** That I rescued from a guy that I hope to get back on the road just as a nice driver.

Check the connector to the blower motor under the hood. Unplug it and inspect the connectors.

The blower motor itself may be on its way out.
You can check to see if there's any critter crud in the blower chamber by removing the blower resistor block cover and looking in at the blower fan. See if it's ate up, or full of crap. And, remove the blower resistor block and see if there's any goodies on the resistor or in the chamber.
Blower motors do wear out. How old is yours?

Connection to the motor. Mine only worked when you held pressure on it. The wires loosen up in the connection itself. I had to cut one off another jeep. I tried pushing them into place and gluing them. Didn't work. I even tried electrical taping them forward in the harness. If I hadn't had another jeep in the barn, I would've plied the motor, cut the wires, and soldered them in. Mine mostly quit when it was cold... worked when started, then stopped when the engine warmed up.... what a kick in the junk when it's -25 out.

BTW. .. u can pull.the blower motor with the cannister still attached to the AC tubing by rotating it. There's a nice YouTube video on it.
