Default Odd electric issue

Ive got a 1996 xj with the 4L. When i put the key in the ignition and go to start the car itll either turn over once or hardly at all, than nothing. No horn, no lights nothing. Sometimes opening and closing the door helps but not all the time. I replaced the ignition switch so we know thats good. Im thinking its a bad ground somewhere but I figured id toss this up here to see what anyone else thought. Any input/help is appreciated. Thanks!

I'd certainly be checking the main engine grounds and by checking, it means removing and cleaning up.

Could be poor connections at the battery, or rotten cables.

Is not odd. Is bad battery, bad cables, or bad connections. Is standard stuff.

BTW, welcome!

Cruiser54 is a moderator on this site. He has his own website with tips and tricks for the Cherokee. He has a write up on which ground wires to check and clean.
A redneck way of checking is when it wont start, hook a jumper cable to the negative terminal on the battery, and hook the other end to naked, clean, engine or. frame, then try it again. If ir turns, bad ground for sure.
