O.E.M. Factory Fog/Driving Lights
My understanding over the years has been that "Fog Lights" have an amber lens, while "Driving Lights" have a clear lens. So why does the Chrysler parts book call them fog lights when they have a clear lens ?
Which ever they may be, does anyone know which replacement bulb is used to replace a burnt old bulb? What wattage do these lights draw ? Maybe 55 Watts per fixture, but maybe more ? |
Next time please give us some vehicle information such as the year....
If you have a 97-01 then the fog light bulbs are a H3 55W. |
The difference between a fog light and a driving light is the beam pattern. A fog light will be a short and wide beam pattern the driving will be narrower than the fog but go farther out. A spot light will be much narrower but go even farther. The amber color is so in foggy conditions the amber light won't bounce back as much as the plain white light. Bulb wattage will just determine the brightness of the light.

Sometimes in life one comes across used auto parts at various locations and opportunities, such as car shows, yard sales, flea markets, etc. etc. and as a buyer you have to act with little or no information as to the items fit & condition.
Life is seldom a glossy catalog with part numbers, model years, etc. In other words, one needs to be able to think on his feet and narrow down the details later. |
