Where is the neutral saftey switch on an 95 automatic XJ? It wont start now most of the time and I now have no reverse lights, so I'm thinking it may be the nss. I want to troubleshoot it, bypass it to see if that is my problem. Also looking for a good quality service manual (where to get, how much?) I really dont care for the Chilton or Clymer manuals.

 

first off the NSS is on the passenger side of the transmision towards the bell housing it has a couple of bolts holding it on theyre normally very hard to get off so be carefull taking it off cause its expensive to replace and if youy want to bypass it the wiring for it is in the engine bay by the firewall just trace the wiring from the switch to the plug and then follow one the writeups on how to remove it as for the service manual the factory service manual is the best you can get a little pricey but if you do all your own work its worth look on ebay or craiglist and maybe youll get lucky
