My buddies 2000 has a crack on the transfer case. I have one from an 89. I know the spline count is different. My question is can we change just the output shaft to his and it all be ok? I think I can but not sure.
Thanks

I want to say yes, there is another member on here that messed up his output shaft on his 97+ and swapped out his sye and shaft from an older case into a newer one.

I am 99.9% sure it will work fine.

My plan was to basically only use the 1989 case and all the internals of the 2000.

Later t-cases have a different length output and an external slip yoke. Are the shafts same diameter?

Well, his crack in on the front housing piece on the bottom. Can I just use the front on my 89 and the rear of his 2000?
