Default Noobie type question...

Alright i already asked something similar but didnt get the answer i was looking for. Will a 96 cherokee 242 transfer case fit on a 95 cherokee. Idk if they have the same transmissions or not. But the 96 t-case is in better shape and i want to switch it into my 95. So i only need a simple answer (yes or no) and if its no explain what i have to do to get it to work. Also using all the drive shafts from the 96 with its t-case.

u need to find out what trannys u have from both years to get a right answer, their are different spline counts for the output shafts on the trannys.

If you have a '95 with the 4.0L High Output, you have one of two transmissions.

1= The Aisin-Warner AW4 (4 speed automatic)
2= The AX-15 (5 speed manual)

The same goes for the '96 models with the 4.0L.

If the donor and the recipient vehicles both have the same type of transmission, you will have no problem swapping the transfer case in.
