No start- charged battery and lights work
I know this is a cherokee forum but I have a 91 wrangler as well as a cherokee and the yj wont start. Battery is all charged up (checked it with a tester) but there is not even a clicking sound when turning the ignition. The lights work fine too. I put a screwdriver across the two bolts on the starter and nothing happened even when turning the ignition. Could the starter be bad or is this a connection problem.

Put a 12volt test light on the small terminal on the solenoid and see if it lights up when turning the key to the crank position.

Mine did that when the CPS went out. They're cheap and easy to replace with a few wobble extensions.
Viewed from front it's at 11 o'clock on the trans bell housing. |
A CPS will not cause the engine not to turn over, only a no spark condition.

Turn ignition too accessory shift down all the way then too neutral then start. I know I should ask if you wrangler is auto, I know most ain't but it really sounds like a NSS. Good luck either way
